It is difficult to find the right words to write about Diana Whitmore. Diana was not only a member of our Advisory Circle at Treehouse Coaching; she was someone who had been part of my family’s life long before she became part of mine. Diana also became an important teacher, mentor and friend to me.
In coaching, Diana became my instructor and mentor, and I was fortunate that our relationship grew into a friendship. Her presence in my life was generous and influential. She had a way of listening, asking questions, and seeing something in people that they perhaps could not yet see in themselves.
Diana was a coach, trainer, author and mentor who influenced generations. She was a founder, trainer and trustee of the Psychosynthesis Trust in London and, in 2017, founded Growing2Gether in the Scottish Highlands. Through Growing2Gether, she brought the principles of psychosynthesis into work with vulnerable and at-risk young people, creating opportunities for connection, mentoring and growth.
Diana became part of the Findhorn community, where she lived from 2016 and served for many years as Chair of Trustees of the Findhorn Foundation. Findhorn, Growing2Gether, psychosynthesis and coaching were connected by the same curiosity about people, community, consciousness and what becomes possible when we create the conditions for growth.
Diana understood our vision and encouraged us to think beyond coaching. She believed in the possibility of coaching contributing to something broader. As a member of our Advisory Circle, she gave us her time, her insights and her encouragement. More than that, she gave us her belief in what we were trying to create.
As we continue with Treehouse, we will take time to think about what Diana has meant to us and what we have learned from her. We are thinking especially of Jason, Diana’s son, and of everyone at Growing2Gether and in the Findhorn community. We know that Diana belonged to many communities and touched many lives, and our thoughts are with all those who are feeling her absence.
