As we reach the midpoint of 2026, we find ourselves reflecting on the first six months of Stichting Treehouse Coaching with gratitude, humility, and hope. Treehouse Coaching was founded with a simple idea: that coaching should not be reserved for those with the greatest resources, but should be available to people from all walks of life. Living and working in and around Amsterdam, we are constantly inspired by the richness, diversity, creativity, and resilience of the city—and equally aware of the pressures many people face.
Amsterdam is a city of opportunity, but it is also a city experiencing significant change. Rising housing costs, increasing social isolation, growing inequality, and the pace of modern life can leave people feeling disconnected from themselves, their aspirations, and one another. From Nieuw-West to Zuidoost, from Noord to the city centre, every neighbourhood holds extraordinary talent and potential. Yet not everyone has equal access to the support, networks, and spaces for reflection that can help people navigate life’s transitions and challenges.
It was this reality that inspired the creation of Treehouse Coaching. Our hope was not simply to establish another coaching organisation, but to contribute to a city where more peoplehave the opportunity to pause, reflect, and imagine new possibilities for themselves and their communities. During these first six months, we have built the foundations of the stichting, welcomed an exceptional group of volunteer coaches, launched our website, and shared our vision through conversations, partnerships, and our launch event, which brought together 95 participants from across different sectors and backgrounds.
What has encouraged us most has been the response from people who recognise the need for more accessible forms of support and development. Again and again, we have met individuals who believe that meaningful conversations can strengthen resilience, foster inclusion, and help people find their own path forward. We have also been reminded that lasting change begins locally: through relationships, trust, and creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
As we look ahead, our original hope remains unchanged. We want Treehouse Coaching to become part of a more connected and compassionate Amsterdam—one where access to reflection, personal growth, and encouragement is not determined by postcode, profession, or income. We know this is an ambitious vision, but every meaningful change begins with a conversation. The first six months have shown us that many people share this belief, and we are excited to continue building, learning, and growing together.
